The Race For Research is one of the four main fundraising events for Cancer League of Colorado », We are a 100% volunteer organization with no paid staff and no offices.
Approximately 85% of the money raised is directed to early stage cancer research in Colorado. This support provides researchers seed money for projects that have the potential to generate additional research funds from other organizations, such as the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Cancer League grants are awarded based on recommendations from the Scientific Advisory Board, a group of volunteer Colorado medical specialists who represent a variety of cancer research and treatment disciplines.
Cancer League also now allocates up to $150,000 each year for investigator iitiated clinical trials.
The remaining 15% of the money raised by Cancer League is used to help fund local service organizations that provide support directly to cancer patients and their families.
Cancer League, an early contributor and supporter of the Ronald McDonald House, LifeSpark and Brent's Place, provides service grants to hospices as well as cancer recovery and family support programs such as Casting for Recovery, Camp Wapiyapi, Reel Recovery, My Lifeline.org, La Clinica Tepeyac, Shining Stars and Project Angel Heart.
We are planning to hold another online auction in conjuction with the 22th Annual Race for Research on Sunday August 19, 2018, using EBay Giving Works a charitable branch of EBay. Check back in early August for more information..
